Glowing skin in your 20s, 30s, 40s & beyond
K-beauty may have gained notoriety for its long, 10-step routines, but the heart of K-beauty is preventive care. More important than using multiple products is using the right products at the right age. As our skin changes, our skincare products should do. What works for your skin in your 20s, may not work in your 30s or 40s.

No matter what your age, it’s never too late to start caring for your skin. Preventive skin care starts today, not tomorrow. So, here are the essential K-beauty products to have in your skincare arsenal in your 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond.
20s - Establish a Routine
The best thing you can do in your 20s is to establish a consistent skincare routine. This routine does not have to be complicated or even expensive! Using a couple of intentional products now will do wonders to protect your skin in the future. In fact, simpler is better, especially for those who are new to skincare. Too many products can actually overstimulate your skin, resulting in acne and other skin issues.
20s Skin Kit Must-Haves: First Cleanser & Sunscreen
We suggest using a first cleanser. A first cleanser removes oil-based impurities, like makeup and sunscreen. Double cleansing (cleansing your skin twice) is the best way to ensure properly cleansed skin, which is important if you're dealing with pesky acne -- a common skin concern for those in their 20s.
And, wear sunscreen every day. Wearing sunscreen is the number one thing you can do for your skin in the long run. Sunscreen will not only keep your complexion looking youthful for longer, but of course, it also offers protection from serious skin conditions, including cancer.
30s - Target First Signs of Aging
In your 30s, you’ll start noticing the first signs of aging, like fine lines, dull skin and possibly hyper-pigmentation. Cell turnover rate is slower and collagen levels have dropped. And because life is probably busy, it’s better to add a few products that you’ll use consistently rather than a drawn-out routine you’ll do sporadically.
30s Skin Kit Must-Haves: Serum & Exfoliating Acid
We suggest adding a serum. Serums are perfect for hyper-targeting your skin’s specific needs (dullness, fine lines, blotchiness) while adding another layer of hydration into skin. Serums can be used right after toning and followed with a moisturizer, if needed.
And once a week, gently exfoliate with an acid. Acids are chemical exfoliators -- don’t worry, they are very gentle! Exfoliating with an acid, like AHA, will remove dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of fine lines, large pores and acne scarring, keeping skin looking bright and youthful.
40s - Amp Up the Active Ingredients
In your 40s, collagen production is slowing down even more, resulting in loss of elasticity and thinner skin, which also means you’re more vulnerable to environmental stressors like free radicals that can result in dark spots. To remedy this, focus on adding active ingredients that keep your moisture barrier healthy and strong.
40s Skin Kit Must-Haves: Antioxidants & Night Cream
Look for treatments with antioxidants! These treatments can be serums, oils, moisturizers, really anything that works for you. The important factor is that they’re loaded with antioxidants, like Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3). Antioxidants help prevent free radical damage while also evening out any dark spots.
And for your PM routine, add a night cream. Your skin has extra time to regenerate while you sleep. Use that time to let your skin soak up some skin-benefitting ingredients. Look for protective and rejuvenating ingredients like tamanu oil, ceramides and peptides.
50s + - Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
For mature skin, focus on keeping skin hydrated at all times. Even formerly oily skin can experience dryness due to menopause coupled with continued loss of collagen. Continue using the active ingredients from your 40s, while adding even more moisture into your routine.
50s Skin Kit Must-Haves: Oil Cleanser & Sheet Mask
If you haven't already, now is the time to switch your foaming cleanser to an oil cleanser. Foaming cleansers, even gentle ones, can strip your skin of essential oils. An oil cleanser will cleanse your skin while adding hydration back into it. In the mornings, we suggest skipping your cleanser altogether. A simple rinse of water will do.
And, use a sheet mask at least once a week. Sheet masks are the perfect way to give your skin an extra boost of hydration. With sheet masks, the concentrated essences are able to fully soak into skin for maximum moisture.
